Job Summary

The Cluster of Excellence "CASA" at Ruhr-University Bochum is seeking highly motivated PhD and Postdoctoral Researchers to join its interdisciplinary team. This role focuses on advanced computer security research, particularly against large-scale attackers and emerging threats like AI and quantum computing. Successful candidates will contribute to projects addressing the security of quantum technologies, protection against AI-based disinformation, and new ransomware defense strategies, as well as the interaction of human behavior and cybersecurity. The positions are full-time and fixed-term (3 years for PhDs, 2 years for Postdocs). Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (for PhD candidates) or Doctorate (for Postdoctoral candidates) in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, psychology (preferably with a relationship to technology), or related disciplines with above-average grades.

Experience

  • Professional experience in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or psychology (preferably with a relationship to technology) or related disciplines
  • At least basic knowledge in one or more of the following research areas: Cryptography, system security, hardware security, decentralized security, human-centered security, AI and security
  • For Postdoctoral candidates: Published relevant papers at leading conferences on cryptography and IT security
