Job Summary

The Fraunhofer Institute for Short-Time Dynamics, Ernst-Mach-Institut, EMI, is seeking a Development Engineer for Embedded Systems to join their Security Technologies and Structural Protection department in Freiburg. This role involves contributing to a European research project focused on developing innovative solutions for identifying individuals at external borders using intelligent electronic sensor technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing hardware and software components for localization and identification solutions, identifying new research areas, and independently managing project tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape future security technologies, collaborate with international partners, and present research findings in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment within a leading applied research organization.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science

Experience

  • Interest in developing embedded systems and scientific project work
  • Prior knowledge in sensor technology, measurement technology, and the conception and development of embedded systems with hardware and software components is ideal
  • Independent and structured work approach
