Job Summary

This role involves developing an innovative, culture-independent method for identifying and characterizing microbial communities to ensure quality control in microalgae production. The successful candidate will independently conceptualize and conduct experiments, focusing on isolating and phylogenetically classifying contaminants and microalgae to establish a strain collection from aquaculture production facilities. Key responsibilities include developing a biological laboratory test system for co-cultivation experiments with various microalgae and their contaminants, as well as validating and testing this system in collaboration with project partners. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in industrial microalgae production, aiming to mitigate losses caused by pathogenic organisms, and requires a proactive, structured approach within a dynamic academic environment.
