Job Summary
This PhD position at the University Medical Center Göttingen offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated candidate to conduct translational research in the field of Parkinson's disease. The role focuses on dissecting immunological processes and their functional significance in progressive neurodegeneration, specifically investigating alpha-synuclein aggregation and its impact on dopaminergic neurons. Day-to-day tasks include experimental design, data collection and analysis, applying advanced research techniques like flow cytometry and microscopy, and potentially working with experimental models of Parkinson's disease. The successful candidate will join an international and highly motivated team, contribute to scientific discussions, present findings at conferences, and gain mentoring experience by supervising junior students, all within an excellent scientific and technical infrastructure.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree (or equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Natural Sciences, or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in Immunology/Molecular Biology/Neuroscience
- Experience in experimental design, data collection, and analysis
- Experience with research techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, immunoassays, quantitative PCR, and microscopy
