Job Summary
This role at the State Office for Environment (LfU) in Brandenburg, Germany, offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to environmental protection. As a Specialist for Air Quality Monitoring, you will play a crucial part in implementing the new EU Air Quality Directive, focusing on data acquisition, management, and information security within the UBIS expert information system. Your daily tasks will involve managing ultra-fine particle measurements, overseeing large-scale monitoring stations, and supporting immission modeling. You will also enhance public information by developing real-time updates for alert thresholds and improving overall data presentation online and in reports. This position requires a proactive, communicative individual who can support the system's ongoing development and information security concept within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team across two locations. Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed university degree (Bachelor/Fachhochschulstudium) in Technical Environmental Protection, Environmental Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Natural Sciences, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or comparable technical/natural science fields; or equivalent abilities and experience; or qualification for the higher technical service in environmental administration.
Experience
- Professional experience in technical environmental protection, environmental informatics, electrical engineering, natural sciences, geosciences, environmental sciences, chemistry, physics, or comparable technical/natural science fields.
- Basic knowledge in immission control law (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge of ultra-fine particles (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge in electrical engineering (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge in information security (advantageous)

- Work permit for Germany/EU required. Non-German degrees require translation and evaluation by ZAB or ANABIN database excerpt.
