Tandem Head of Department, IMIS Measurement Networks | Ingenieur (m/w/d)

Job Summary

This role is a unique opportunity to co-lead the "IMIS Measurement Networks" department within the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), focusing on environmental radioactivity monitoring in Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of approximately 1,700 measurement stations, driving research and development in measurement systems, methods, and data analysis, with a strong emphasis on system reliability and quality assurance. Day-to-day, you'll manage a team of around 50 employees across six locations, oversee budget and investment planning, and represent the BfS in national and international forums on complex interdisciplinary issues related to environmental radioactivity measurements. This position offers the chance to contribute significantly to public safety and environmental protection, working within a critical federal agency.
