Job Summary

This PhD opportunity at the International PhD Programme (IPP) Mainz invites talented scientists to engage in cutting-edge research focused on "Molecular Mechanisms in Genome Stability & Gene Regulation." The successful candidate will join the Edward Lemke group to study intrinsically disordered proteins and their roles in vital cellular processes like transcription, nuclear transport, and healthy aging. The specific project involves high-resolution fluorescence imaging of protein plasticity, utilizing quantitative single-molecule and super-resolution-based technologies to explore protein dynamics within microphase separation. This interdisciplinary role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in physical sciences, including physicists, biophysicists, polymer scientists, physical chemists with computational skills, or biologists/biochemists eager to delve into quantitative science. Extensive project training will be provided, making it suitable even for those with limited prior experimental bioscience experience but high motivation to contribute to groundbreaking research.
