Job Summary

This PhD position offers talented scientists the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research within the International PhD Programme (IPP) Mainz, focusing on "Molecular Biomedicine & Ageing." The successful candidate will join the research group of Wolfram Ruf to investigate the cellular crosstalk within the bone marrow microenvironment and its contribution to the aging of the hematopoietic system. Day-to-day activities will involve dissecting age-related changes in the bone marrow microenvironment, data mining and integration of large single-cell transcriptomic and bulk RNAseq datasets, and validating candidate regulators using various mouse models. The role also includes characterizing the senescent associated secretory phenotype and employing state-of-the-art techniques like multicolor flow cytometry, imaging, and omics. This is an attractive opportunity for an ambitious scientist to push research boundaries, identify targets for rejuvenation strategies, and develop expertise in systems biology and bioinformatics.
