Job Summary

This role is for a Technical Assistant to join the Cellular Phenotyping Platform at the Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology (HI-TRON) in Mainz. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and validating single-cell phenotyping assays, with a strong focus on high-parameter spectral flow cytometry. Day-to-day tasks include processing clinical samples, operating state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment like the BD FACSAria Fusion Cell Sorter and Cytek Aurora 5L Spectral Cytometer, and assisting scientists with cell sorting. The position also involves managing platform operations, including inventory and reagent tracking, and meticulous documentation to ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant (BTA, CTA, MTA), Biology Laboratory Assistant, or equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Practical experience in fluorescence flow cytometry and/or experience in a flow cytometry core facility is desirable
  • Familiarity with tissue processing, cell isolation, fluorescence cell staining, or cell culture techniques
  • Laboratory organizational skills and reagent management experience
  • Detail-oriented work with good documentation and reporting skills, including protocol creation and record-keeping; experience with GLP or GMP standards is desirable
