Job Summary
This role involves developing cutting-edge magnetron sputtering processes for piezoelectric nitrides on wide band gap substrates using a state-of-the-art cluster tool. The successful candidate will design layer stacks, develop processes for seed/buffer layers and metallic electrodes, and perform extensive thin film characterization using techniques like XRD, ellipsometry, and AFM. A key aspect of the role is troubleshooting thin-film deposition issues, conducting advanced experiments, and driving continuous process improvements. Collaboration within the Thin Film Technologies Research Unit and Microsystems Division is essential, contributing to ongoing projects focused on materials and thin-film technology for MEMS applications. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work in an advanced ISO5 cleanroom, generate innovative ideas, and manage funded research projects, contributing to scientific communication and IP generation.
Required Skills
Education
PhD degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields with a focus on thin film technology (preferably nitrides).
Experience
- Professional experience with thin film deposition equipment (magnetron sputtering)
- Professional experience with materials characterization equipment
- Professional experience in semiconductor technologies and cleanroom microfabrication processes
- Professional experience in project management
