Job Summary

This role involves the conceptual design, development, and management of services centered around the OpenShift Container Platform for the German Pension Insurance's joint data center. The Service Design Manager will be responsible for analyzing requirements from various departments, development teams, and operations, and continuously optimizing services according to ITIL standards, focusing on Design, Transition, and Operation processes. Key tasks include defining and maintaining the service catalog and related SLAs/SLOs, coordinating technical experts and external partners, and ensuring compliance with security and governance standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in container technologies, OpenShift/Kubernetes architecture, and experience in agile environments (Scrum, DevOps). This position is crucial for providing stable, user-centric, and ITIL-compliant platform services that support the development and operation of modern container-based applications.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor, FH Diploma) in IT or completed vocational training as an IT Specialist or equivalent qualification (e.g., IT-specific qualification) or comparable practical experience in the IT field

Experience

  • Several years of current, relevant professional experience in the IT environment, specifically focusing on container technologies
  • In-depth understanding of OpenShift/Kubernetes platform architectures and IT services at the infrastructure level
  • Experience in agile or hybrid work environments (e.g., Scrum, SAFe, DevOps)
  • Experience in managing work groups and projects related to platform services

Additional

  • Must be eligible for a security clearance check according to § 9 SÜG (German Security Clearance Act); Willingness to travel 1-2 times per month to other data center locations (currently Berlin and Würzburg); Position can be performed primarily remotely after onboarding.
