Job Summary

This role at DESY Project Management involves actively shaping the German research landscape by managing and developing funding programs, primarily in basic natural science research. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of pilot projects for process automation, actively steering Agile Scrum processes, and monitoring international research in particle, matter, and universe topics. Key responsibilities also include developing new impulses for research policy, assessing and creating strategic documents, and implementing and further developing research policy programs. The position requires a strong understanding of national science systems and funding landscapes, combined with a passion for science management and a strategic mindset to bridge the gap between politics, science, and society.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Physics or Chemistry, or equivalent specialized knowledge, skills, and experience; Doctorate preferred

Experience

  • Professional experience with basic natural science research at large facilities (e.g., CERN, ESRF, FAIR, IceCube, ILL, VLT)
  • Experience with digitalization projects and new IT tools is desirable
  • Interest in science management and working at the interface of politics, science, and society
