Job Summary

This role offers a highly motivated physicist the opportunity to join the Cluster of Excellence REC² at TUD Dresden, focusing on Responsible Electronics in the Climate Change Era. The successful candidate will work as a Research Associate and PhD student (75% time) at the Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics, starting March 1, 2026. Day-to-day duties involve cutting-edge scientific research on the optical and electronic properties of novel two-dimensional materials and quantum dot nanostructures. Key activities include spectroscopic investigations, measurements using microscopy and time-resolved spectroscopy, and testing heterostructures. A unique aspect of the role is the integration of sustainability analysis, requiring the acquisition of knowledge in life-cycle analysis and collaboration with sustainability experts. The position requires a Master's degree in Physics, strong experimental skills in optics and material preparation, and familiarity with low-dimensional van der Waals materials, offering a clear path toward obtaining a PhD.
