Job Summary

This role as a Functional Safety Engineer focuses on ensuring the highest safety standards for critical control technology components in rail vehicles, such as braking and door systems, within the TÜV SÜD Rail division. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing detailed safety assessments with system understanding, conducting rigorous Safety and Quality Management Audits at customer locations, and evaluating complex safety concepts for new electronic systems and rolling stock technologies. A key aspect involves analyzing the critical interface between functional safety and cyber security strategies, as well as planning and executing targeted fault injection and functional tests in the field. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and brings at least three years of professional experience, ideally complemented by initial exposure to functional safety standards (e.g., EN 5012x, IEC 61508). Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Systems Engineer, Hardware Developer, or Software Developer

  • Experience with relevant functional safety methodologies (FMEA, FMECA, FMEDA, FTA) is desirable
