This specialist role involves the critical operation, maintenance, and repair of advanced research facilities, specifically two heavy ion accelerators (2 MeV and 350 keV), used for semiconductor and quantum electronics research at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. The core responsibilities include the independent development and testing of complex, custom electronic circuits using both analog and digital techniques, including microcontroller integration. The specialist will also provide essential technical support for sophisticated scientific experiments, assist students, and manage the procurement of necessary electronic components. Candidates must hold a university degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, possess several years of relevant professional experience, and demonstrate fundamental expertise in circuit technology. The position is initially fixed-term but offers the potential for subsequent permanent employment, providing an opportunity to work within a cutting-edge applied physics department.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/FH Diploma) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Measurement Technology, or a comparable engineering discipline

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in a relevant technical or scientific environment
  • Experience operating and maintaining heavy ion accelerators (2 MeV and 350 keV)
  • Experience in the independent development and testing of electronic circuits
  • Knowledge of radiation protection or willingness to undergo training
