Job Summary

This part-time (50%) permanent position within the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) involves critical technical support for the nationwide solar UV measurement network and optical laboratories. The role requires operating, testing, and maintaining complex measuring devices, performing independent repairs, and ensuring rigorous documentation according to applicable guidelines. A significant component of the job involves business travel across Germany to provide technical support and maintenance at external measurement stations, sometimes in challenging or non-barrier-free locations. Key qualifications include vocational training in a relevant technical field (such as Physical-Technical Assistant, Electrician, or Mechatronics Technician) combined with a Master Craftsman certification. The successful candidate will support quality assurance, data validation, and measurement data evaluation. This role offers a responsible and varied opportunity within a federal scientific authority, focusing on environmental protection and public safety, requiring fluent German language skills and strong technical competencies.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant, Physical-Technical Assistant, Electrician, or Mechatronics Technician (or comparable), combined with further training as a Master Craftsman (Meister/in) in this field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in handling measurement technology (ideally optical measurement technology)
  • Professional experience in operating laboratory instruments
  • Professional experience in technical documentation
  • Basic knowledge of data communication and measurement data acquisition

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Part-time employment (50%). Willingness to undertake business trips within Germany for technical support, including to difficult-to-access or non-barrier-free areas. Permanent contract. Location: Oberschleißheim. Ideally, qualification as an Electrotechnical Specialist or willingness to obtain corresponding further training.
