Job Summary

The Research Data Steward will play a critical role in establishing a sustainable and interdisciplinary Research Data Management (RDM) system for the DFG-funded Research Training Group (RTG 3120) focused on Biomolecular Condensates. Day-to-day responsibilities include scientific research and development activities centered on RDM, specifically developing new AI- and machine learning-based methods, tools, scripts, ontologies, and a knowledge graph to integrate diverse experimental and simulation data. The Steward will also provide essential methodological support and advice to project groups and doctoral researchers on data quality, workflows, and RDM best practices, including developing and maintaining Data Management Plans (DMPs). Key qualifications include a university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant scientific or technical field, an excellent background in RDM principles and FAIR data practices, and proven experience in system programming and developing AI/ML concepts. This position offers a unique opportunity for academic qualification, typically a PhD or Habilitation, within a dynamic, interdisciplinary scientific environment at a University of Excellence.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in Physics, Biology, Computer Science, or a related field. Opportunity for further academic qualification (PhD/Habilitation).

Experience

  • Excellent background in RDM principles and FAIR data practices, ideally gained in a scientific environment
  • Professional experience in system programming, including scripting and tool development
  • Experience in developing machine learning and AI-based concepts
  • Proven ability to coordinate across interdisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with data lifecycle concepts, metadata standards, and data documentation best practices
