Job Summary

This is a critical Laboratory Manager role, responsible for the establishment and operation of the new Molecular Biodiversity Lab (MBL) within the TERRA Cluster of Excellence. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the planning and setup phase of the MBL, which serves as a central infrastructure for high-throughput molecular biodiversity projects, including genetic diversity studies. Core responsibilities include managing lab coordination for various research groups, implementing and maintaining a sophisticated pipetting robot, and providing essential training and guidance to scientific staff on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques and protocols. Candidates must possess a background as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA) or equivalent, coupled with significant experience in NGS or lab management, or a relevant university degree in Molecular Biology. This position requires strong organizational skills and fluency in English (B2 minimum) to thrive in this exciting international research setting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA) or equivalent technical qualification, or a university degree in Molecular Biology

Experience

  • Long-term professional experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or laboratory management (if BTA/equivalent qualification is held)
  • Substantial laboratory experience (if holding a university degree in Molecular Biology)
  • Experience with NGS or laboratory automation is preferred
